Duroguard 45 ABR
This is a high strength abrasion resistant castable designed to maintain strength and therefore structural integrity throughout the temperature range of application up to 1400oC.
Recommended applications and associated advantages
- Kiln discharge and feed areas
The aggregate used is very hard (+/- 8 on Moh’s scale) resulting in very minimal wear by kiln feed or discharge material. Clients that have changed to Duroguard 45 ABR have reported a +100% increase in refractory life in these abrasive areas.
- Combustion chambers
Low iron content of the castable gives it excellent resistance to carbon monoxide gas. This also explains its suitability for use in certain areas of coke ovens.
- Ash hoppers
Excellent resistance to abrasive ash sliding down the ash hopper walls. Castable strength is not affected by wet ash that could be laden with alkalis.
- General boiler maintenance
Arches, coal feed areas etc. For boiler arches 2 to 3% steel fibre addition is recommended.
- Floors in heat treatment furnaces
The high strength and abrasion resistance is an advantage where heat treatment of large components is done. Duroguard 45 ABR can carry both the weight without structural changes to the floor.
Durogun 1300 ABR
General gunning repair work on Duroguard 45ABR is done using Durogun 1300 ABR that exhibits similar physical and chemical characteristics with the exception of strength. The strength of Durogun 1300 ABR is in line with strengths obtained with gunning materials.
