Alumino Silicates CASTABLES
Durocast is a South African manufacturer and supplier of alumino silicates castables — monolithic refractories that are mixed, placed like concrete and fired in service to form seamless, heat-resistant linings for furnaces, kilns, ladles, boilers and incinerators.
Made in our Vereeniging plant, the range runs from easy-placing standard castables to low cement, corrosion-resistant, abrasion-resistant, pumpable, self-flowing and insulating grades — so every zone of a lining can be matched to its real duty: heat, molten metal, slag, chemical attack or abrasion.
Durocast supplies alumino silicates castables across South Africa, into the wider African market and to the Indian Ocean islands — select your region below for local supply information.
THE DUROCAST CASTABLE RANGE
- Durocast — standard castables: easy to use; specially useful where good mixing and drying facilities are not available
- Durocast LC — low cement castables: better refractoriness and strength than standard castables, using less water; pan mixing and a recommended dry-out schedule advised
- Thermocrete — cost-effective castables: general-purpose castables built on cost-effective raw materials, for use where high strength and corrosion resistance are not required
- Durotherm — corrosion-resistant castables: high-purity castables for resistance to metals and slags: Durotherm L for ladles, Durotherm for reheat furnaces, Durotherm T for tundishes
- Duroguard — abrasion-resistant castables: high-strength castables for rotary kilns and mineral processing where abrasion resistance comes first
- Durapid — quick-repair castables: chemically bonded castables installed hot or at ambient temperature and returned to operation at accelerated rates
- Durochem — special castables: resistance to specific materials such as aluminium, lead, zinc, copper, vanadium and sodium
- Duropump — pumpable castables: installed with concrete pumps for large volumes or inaccessible areas; most Durocast monolithics can be modified for pumping
- Duroflow — self-flow castables: high-strength castables that flow into place without vibration
- Durion — alumina–silicon carbide–carbon castables: resistant to liquid iron and slag; designed for blast-furnace runners
- Thermolite — general-purpose insulation: insulating materials suitable for casting, gunning and trowelling
- Durolite — high-strength and special insulation: insulation with special properties such as high strength and high refractoriness
